Motorcycles line Corner Brook streets to remember bike-club founder

A long motorcade of bikers drove through the streets of Corner Brook Thursday to remember their dear friend Herb Snooks — one of the founders of the West Newfoundland Chapter of Harley Davidson owners club.

Snooks, who had served as first president of the group, was laid to rest yesterday but not before about 30 bikers followed him to his final resting place.

Snooks, who died after long-standing health issues, is being remembered by his fellow bikers has a great, quiet man, who loved his family, and of course, his bike.

"He was a Harley guy and you couldn't change that if you tried," long-time friend Carl Marsh told CBC News prior to the motorcade.

"He took care of his bike and he took care of his family."

Friends said Snooks wouldn't be surprised by the comradery and respect shown by his fellow riders, but would have been humble about it all.

Snooks' bike led the pack of bikers during the motorcade.

"Herb was a good friend, and to honour him and remember him, and think of all the good times we had when he was here," said friend Tom Banister.

"His bike is just up ahead here and that brings back a lot of [memories]."

Snooks, a father and grandfather, died on Monday, at the age of 59.
