Motorcyclist charged after failing to stop for Windsor police

Windsor police become impromptu firefighters after responding to family dispute

A 45-year-old man from Windsor faces multiple charges after he failed to stop for police after being caught speeding on his motorcycle last Sunday on Riverside Drive.

Around 7:45 p.m., police say they observed the motorcycle speeding down from Goyeau Street with both a driver and a rear passenger on board. Despite officers activating sirens and emergency lights, the motorcyclist did not stop and continued speeding.

Allegedly sped off road

According to police, the motorcycle then drove onto the grass, along a sidewalk coming close to pedestrians, and then back onto the road.

Police say in the interest of safety they did not pursue the motorcycle, but located it along with the driver and his female passenger about ten minutes later in a parking lot near Lassaline Avenue.

Outstanding warrants

At the time of his arrest, the 45-year-old was found to be in possession of what police say is marijuana and methamphetamine. They also determined he was facing outstanding arrest warrants for breaching a recognizance condition and removal of surety.

In addition to those previous warrants, the man now faces additional charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operate a motor vehicle while disqualified, breach recognizance, possession of suspected cannabis marijuana, possession of suspected methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and multiple violations of the Highway Traffic Act.
