Motorcyclist dies after crash in Citrus Heights, authorities say. Roadway closed

A motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon after a crash with another vehicle in Citrus Heights, authorities said.

The crash happened on Antelope Road between Mariposa Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard, the Citrus Heights Police Department said in an emailed statement just after 3:15 p.m. Eastbound Antelope is closed as police investigate.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District confirmed just after 4 p.m.

The collision remains under investigation, but alcohol did not appear to be a factor, the Police Department said in a news release.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after family members are notified.
