Motorcyclist in hospital with 'serious injuries' after crashing into parked car

A 26-year-old motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after crashing into a parked vehicle on Woodlawn Avenue Wednesday night.

Police received calls about the collision just before 11 p.m., according to Windsor Police Sgt. Steve Betteridge.

"Investigation revealed that the male was operating a motorcycle and he appeared to have lost control," said a police news release.

The road was closed until mid-morning Thursday near Sydney Avenue, while officers reconstructed the scene and gathered evidence.

It is the second serious motorcycle collision in recent weeks.

Garret Fabel, 17, was killed March 9 when the motorcycle he was piloting collided with a minivan on Cabana Road.

Betteridge said with warmer weather coming, everyone on the roads should brush up on safe driving practices and keep an eye out for motorcycles.

He also cautioned motorcyclists to pay attention to how powerful their bikes can be.

"Respect and be aware of the incredible speed and incredible acceleration these machines can have."

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
