Motorcyclist killed in crash on Highway 101 in SLO County
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Highway 101 in southern San Luis Obispo County on Sunday, according to the CHP.
According to a news release, a 29-year-old Bakersfield resident was driving a motorcycle southbound on Highway 101 south of Fourth Street in Grover Beach at 3:32 p.m.
The motorcyclist’s name was not being released pending notification of next of kin.
According to the release, he was traveling at a speed of about 70 miles an hour when he made an unsafe turning movement to the left and allowed his motorcycle to enter the dirt median, the release said. He then lost control of the vehicle and was ejected into the guardrail.
He traveled over the guardrail and landed on the northbound median, according to CHP.
He was transported to Adventist Health Sierra Vista hospital where he died of his injuries, the release said.
Traffic was briefly blocked in both directions by the crash.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to the release.
