Mounties find 9 stolen guns in stolen SUV from Saskatoon

Sask. Mounties on the hunt for police impersonators

Nine guns, seven of them loaded, were found earlier this week inside an SUV that had been stolen in Saskatoon, the RCMP said.

It was just one incident of several on a day members of the RCMP were scrambling around east-central Saskatchewan in pursuit of two suspects.

Police believe the guns, along with a truck, were stolen from the rural municipality of Bjorkdale on July 16.
The Saskatoon SUV was stolen a week earlier.

Investigators identified a suspect July 24 and arrested a woman, 26, near the hamlet of Peesane. She now faces a number of charges.

2nd incident involves Manitoba Mounties

The same day, RCMP got wind of another stolen vehicle, possibly containing firearms, that was being driven into the province from Manitoba.

Mounties in The Pas area stopped the vehicle in Manitoba as it was heading toward the Saskatchewan border.

When the driver tried to avoid a spike belt, the truck became stuck in a ditch.

At that point, the RCMP performed what they called a "high-risk take down" and arrested a 25-year-old man from Rocky Mountain House, Alta. No one was injured.

Officers examined the stolen vehicle and found a loaded firearm which has been seized as evidence.

The Alberta man now faces 13 offences under the Criminal Code including numerous weapons offences and dangerous driving offences, the RCMP said.
