Mounties find stolen ATM, but cash missing

Saskatchewan Mounties have found the ATM that was stolen from a credit union on the weekend — with the money gone.

The bank machine was found in the bush Sunday afternoon close to the town of Hagen, Sask., the RCMP said.

An "undisclosed amount of money" had been taken, they said.

Meanwhile, a farmer found an abandoned white Dodge Ram truck that had been reported stolen out of the Hoey area and may have been used by the thieves to pull off the heist.

The ATM was reported stolen from the credit union in St. Louis, Sask., early Sunday morning. Witnesses said they saw the white truck back up, hook up to the ATM and drag it out of the credit union.

The suspects tried to load it onto the truck, but it was too heavy and they ended up driving out of town towing the ATM on the ground.

They were last seen headed east on Highway 25 headed toward Birch Hills.

Police continue to investigate.
