Mounties tweet throughout the night

The RCMP will be tweeting out its in-coming calls, starting at 6 p.m.

The Saskatchewan RCMP was tweeting out all the calls they got last night, in an effort to show the kinds of things the force deals with every day.

The Mounties receive more than 230,000 calls every year, including reports about car crashes, mischiefs and assaults.

Like many police agencies, it's getting into social media in a big way.

On Thursday night, it was trying to give the public an idea of what it's like to work at the division operational communications centre.

And so, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., it was sending out tweets for dozens of calls.

The Twitter-using public was able to follow the messages via the Mounties' Twitter handle, @RCMPSK or through the hashtag, #copcalls.
