Movember means moustaches in Saskatchewan

It's that time of year again. Upper lips across the province will soon become bushier. On Monday, Movember Regina kicked off its annual fundraising campaign. Men paid 20 dollars for a straight razor shave at Victoria's Tavern. The proceeds going to the men's health initiative.

"It's grown into a global campaign. There's 21 participating countries," said Melissa Fiacco of Movember Regina. "It funds more than 800 programs that benefit prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health."

Organizers encourage men to shave on November 1 and to register for the campaign. But Movember is not just about men and their moustaches.

"I think ultimately the goal is to encourage people, men and women alike, to be proactive about their health," said Fiacco.

Next week a Movember flag will be raised at the Saskatchewan Legislature.
