MT BRYDGES - Townhouse proposals were spread around at the May 2nd Strathroy-Caradoc Twp. Council meeting.

Mt. Brydges was included - with a 32-unit development of its own fronting on Adelaide and Allan Roads southeast of Parkhouse Drive. Access would be via Allan Road.

The 32-units would be split among seven buildings on the 4.13-acre property owned by Gold Leaf Properties Inc.

Senior planner Tim Williams told council the plan is for the townhouses to be rented out. He said this would be a similar design to the Gold Leaf Properties propoerty on Metaclfe Street in Strathroy.

“Single storey with a target of seniors,” explained Williams.

An open house on March 10th has residents raise concerns about privacy for neighbours, traffic on Allen Road, and a need for sidewalks. Williams said sidewalks are planned for both Adelaide and Allan Roads.

Road widening is also expected by the County of Middlesex for Adelaide Road.

Owner Cindy Read spoke to the demand for this type of housing in Mt. Brydges.

“We have a lot of seniors anxiously waiting to move in,” Read told council.

“The need for housing is very real out there and there’s a lot, a lot of people that are reaching out to us all the time for senior rentals,” she added.
