Here’s How Much 29 Celebrities Are Donating To the 2020 Candidates

Hollywood is putting their money where their mouth is by donating to the political campaign funds of the presidential candidates they support.

As of July 5, President Donald Trump had raised the most money for his reelection campaign — by far — with a total of $30.3 million in Trump campaign donations, according to Federal Election Commission filings for 2019-2020. Sen. Bernie Sanders is a distant second with $20.7 million raised. Other top fundraisers are Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has raised $16.48 million; Sen. Kamala Harris, who has raised $13.24 million; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who has raised $12.6 million; John Delaney, who has raised $12.14 million; Beto O’Rourke, who has raised $9.37 million; Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who has raised $8.83 million; Sen. Cory Booker, who has raised $7.92 million and Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who has raised $7.09 million. Other candidates who have received celebrity backing include Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has raised $4.5 million; John Hickenlooper, who has raised $2.02 million and Andrew Yang, who has raised $1.78 million. Former Vice President Joe Biden’s first FEC filing wasn’t available as of July 5.

It’s worth noting that the individual contribution limit for a presidential candidate’s committee is $2,800, according to campaign finance laws set by the FEC. However, individuals can contribute that maximum amount for the primary and again for the general election, which explains why some celebrities have already donated more than $2,800 as they’re contributing to both elections for their chosen candidate.

Keep reading to see which famous faces have made campaign donations this year.

Ben Affleck

Banks has already put $2,800 toward the primary and another $2,800 toward the general election for Harris.

Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Cryer

Although Cryer has only donated to Harris’ campaign, it seems that he’s interested in her having a joint ticket with Warren following the first round of Democratic debates. On June 28, the “Two and a Half Men” star tweeted a “quick poll,” asking his followers to choose between “Warren/Harris 2020” and “Harris/Warren 2020.” (“Warren/Harris 2020” won with 57% of the votes.)

Busy Philipps

  • Candidate she donated to: Kamala Harris
