Ever wondered how much city employees make in Idaho’s second-largest city?
The Idaho Statesman has compiled the latest data on Meridian workers’ salary, including the Mayor’s Office, the City Council and the Meridian Police Department.
Meridian city employees earn an average of $36.90 an hour, according to data provided by the City Clerk’s Office on Nov. 12.
The highest paid employee is Bill Nary, the city attorney, with an annual salary of about $187,000 a year, closely followed by Police Chief Tracy Basterrechea, whose earns about $184,000 a year.
Other high-paid officials include the director of the Meridian Parks and Recreation Department, Stan Siddoway, who makes over $176,000 a year, as well as several police captains and lieutenants. The average hourly pay for an employee in the Meridian Police Department is $45.83 an hour.
Elected officials tend to make much less, the data shows. Mayor Robert Simison earns almost $132,000 a year, making him the 41st highest-paid city employee.
Being elected to the City Council — a part-time role — will earn you $8.33 an hour, or $9.17 an hour if you are elected president.
