"Mulan", "Black Widow", "Jungle Cruise", "Artemis Fowl" and Other Disney Faves Just Got New Release Dates
As movie theaters continue to stay closed due to the coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic that has stopped Hollywood on its tracks, Disney is now announcing brand new release dates for some of its most anticipated releases.
Among those who have officially moved are Mulan, Black Widow, and Jungle Cruise. 20th Century Fox films like Bob's Burgers and The French Dispatch also have new release dates, while some movies were dropped completely. Here's the list of movies with their old and new release dates, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter:
Mulan - Original release date: 3/27/20, New release date: 7/24/20
Free Guy - Original release date: 7/3/20, New release date: 12/11/20
The French Dispatch - Original release date: 7/24/20, New release date: 10/16/20
Black Widow - Original release date: 5/1/20, New release date: 11/6/20
The Eternals - Original release date: 11/6/20, New release date: 2/21/21
Bob's Burgers - Original release date: 7/17/20, New release date: 4/9/21
Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Original release date: 2/12/21, New release date: 5/7/21
Jungle Cruise - Original release date: 7/24/20, New release date: 10/16/21
Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness - Original release date: 5/7/21, New release date: 11/5/21
Thor: Love and Thunder - Original release date: 11/5/21, New release date: 2/18/22
Untitled Indiana Jones - Original release date: 7/9/21, New release date: 7/29/22
Captain Marvel 2 - Original release date: 7/29/22, New release date: 7/8/22
Among the changes, both Artemis Fowl and The New Mutants were completely pulled from the schedule. Both films have had their own pushback in the past. Artemis Fowl was originally supposed to be released on August 9, 2019, before it was pushed back to May 29, 2020. The film will now be coming out on Disney+, without a theatrical release, on a soon-to-be revealed date.
Meanwhile, The New Mutants continues to be stuck in release hell after many attempts to release the film. It was originally set to be released on April 13, 2018, before being delayed to February 22, 2019, then to August 2, 2019. However, after Fox was acquired by Disney, it was pushed back again to April 3, 2020. A new release date is expected to be announced later in the year.
