Multiple engines, trucks respond to fire at the Red Lion Hotel near downtown Boise

Boise Fire responded Wednesday to a blaze in a room at the Red Lion Hotel on Fairview Avenue.

The Boise Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a fire at the Red Lion Hotel on Fairview Avenue, according to spokesperson Lynsey Amundson.

Four engines, two trucks, two battalion chiefs, a safety officer, a division chief and an investigator responded to the blaze. Crews arrived to respond to reports of smoke on the third floor and began searching, Amundson said in an email to the Statesman.

“Firefighters found a small fire in a room on the third floor, which was extinguished by the activation of the sprinklers,” Amundson said. “After confirming the fire was out, crews worked to ventilate the building.”

One person was evaluated by medics and released at the scene, and fire damage was minimal, Amundson said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
