People at high risk of severe disease from COVID-19 infection should be offered a booster shot this fall, regardless of how many boosters they've previously received, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) said on Wednesday. BRIDGEPORT, Calif. (AP) — A Sierra Nevada wildfire destroyed a building and was a threat to more than 250 homes and other structures, California authorities said Wednesday. The Rices Fire grew to 904 acres (366 hectares) along the Yuba River in Nevada County, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said in a nighttime update. Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting two more COVID-19 deaths and an increase in hospitalizations in the Health Department's weekly update. For the second straight year, the Calgary Stampede is reporting financial losses and the COVID-19 pandemic is being branded with the blame. City council's executive committee heard on Wednesday that the Stampede finished $8.3 million in the red in 2021. Israeli lawmakers voted on Thursday to dissolve parliament following the collapse of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's ruling coalition, opening the way for a Nov. 1 election that will be Israel's fifth in less than four years.
