A mother has been sentenced for pulling a dangerous stunt, which mimicked a Michael Jackson moment.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, dangled her child out of a window, shouting: “Wacko Jacko”, as a Michael Jackson song came on the radio.

She later told police she had been having a “Michael Jackson moment”.

It was reminiscent of the infamous case of the troubled global pop sensation, who hung his second son, Blanket, from a hotel balcony in Berlin in 2002.

The mum - in her 20s - admitted exposing the tot to danger, when she appeared at Hull Magistrates Court, East Yorkshire, yesterday.

The incident – in which she held the youngster only by the wrists - came to light when the child’s father saw photos on a mobile phone.

He said: “I was sick. I felt ill. My kids are big, they are heavy, and I am a big bloke. But it would take some strength for me to dangle my child out of a window. My child could have been killed. I’m absolutely disgusted.”

Defense solicitor Dean Bower stressed “just how full of shame and remorse she is”, saying “she knows what she did was plainly wrong and very wrong”.

Sentencing her to a 16-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, district judge Frederick Rutherford said: “What I’ve seen in the photographs is beyond belief. It meets the custody threshold – I don’t think you can argue against that.

“But she has no previous convictions and what has happened in the past, and since, suggests to me it would be wrong for me to impose custody immediately.”

She is also required to undergo a 30-day rehabilitation programme, under the supervision of the probation service.
