Man in court after fatal stabbing at house

A man has appeared in court charged with murder after another man was stabbed to death at a property in Reading.

Thames Valley Police said the victim, in his 40s, was found with serious stab wounds at the property in Maldon Close on Thursday shortly before 23:40 GMT.

Brett Mann, 49, of Maldon Close, Reading, was charged with murder on Sunday and appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday.

The recommendation was filed on Thursday night in Manhattan federal court, a week after Menendez's lawyers pleaded for leniency, citing the 71-year-old's age, decades of public service, charitable works, devotion to family, and financial and professional ruin. Probation officers recommended a 12-year prison term, which Menendez's lawyers described as an effective "death sentence."
