Muscogee County student shot dead while getting off school bus in Columbus, coroner says
One person is dead following a shooting in east Columbus, according to the Columbus Police Department.
An investigation is underway into a deadly shooting that occurred on Watkins Drive Thursday afternoon, according to police.
The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Earkavion Lee, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.
“We believe he was shot getting off the school bus,” Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer.
Lee was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., Bryan said.
Investigators are on the scene gathering information, according to a post on CPD’s X account.

Bryan said Lee was the half-brother of 18-year-old Earkus Porter Jr., who died after being found shot in Belvedere Park in February, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.
