Mystery Customer Leaves Waiter $1,000 Tip For $20 Meal

A waiter got the shock of his life when a mysterious customer left him a $1,000 tip on top of a $20 meal.

Brendan Motill, 19, had only just started a new job as a server at the Smokey Barque BBQ restaurant in Frankfort, Illinois, when he received the tip of a lifetime.

On a fairly slow day, he got chatting to a customer about life, but it was only when the man left that Motill noticed his generosity.

On top of a bill of $20.31 for food, the stranger had left a $1,000 tip, along with a note explaining his actions.

The note read: “Thanks for your kind service! You’re doing a great job as a server.

“I’m not sure what your hopes and dreams are… but I hope this tip helps.

“My hope is that people were more peaceful to each other. The world can be so negative and violent, I commit random acts of kindness to let others know there can be another way.

“Peace be with you brother!”

The signature under the bill read, “Tips for Jesus”.

Motill said he will use the money for university as he wants to follow a career in accounting.

“My jaw dropped,” he told ABC7 News.

“I couldn’t do anything. I was in shock. I tried to go out there and he was gone.”
