Mystery Nando’s Engagement Ring Returned To Rightful Owner After Facebook Hunt

What would you do if you found a blinged out diamond-encrusted ring on the floor outside Nando’s?

Like any halfway decent human being, Andy Samuels started a Facebook campaign to get the ring back to whoever its owner may be - and on Tuesday the story got its happy ending.

Samuels handed the ring over to an older woman, who was able to prove that she was the rightful owner using insurance documents.

Andy had been on a night out when his eagle-eyes spotted the ring on the pavement outside Nando’s in Earls Court.

Good deed: Andy Samuels did the right thing

At first he thought it might be fake - costume jewellery from a hen do, perhaps - but when he discovered that the diamonds all over it were both huge and real he started trying to get it back to its owner.

Andy said of the ring’s owner, “She was overjoyed because she had been upset and doesn’t want any attention, but she was very, very pleased to have it back.

"It’s a fairytale ending and shows just how much good social media can do. I feel like I have done my good deed for the year,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I have lost my phone four or five times and mentioned it on social media. Every time I have had it returned to me – it’s like a boomerang.”
