A 9-year-old in Centennial, Colo. was treated to a private serenade in her living room when S.O.B. singer Nathaniel Rateliff and his guitarist showed up to her family home ready to rock.

The band was in town playing a sold out show in Red Rocks over the weekend, but on Tuesday night they played a quieter acoustic set for Maya, who suffers from HLH, a life threatening immunodeficiency.

“Nathaniel brought up some balloons … and she just couldn’t believe it,” Megan Allen, Maya’s step mom told 9News. “He comes in with his cool hat, it was just hard to believe. They shouldn’t have to play three live songs in my living room, but they did.”

Maya will be receiving a bone marrow transplant in the fall, and in order to prepare for it, the young girl has been undergoing chemotherapy.

“She’s just a tough kid and they did this really nice thing for her, it really meant a lot,” Allen said. “No matter how famous someone is, they still care about a sick kid.”
