A Natomas Unified School District campus was placed on lockdown Monday after Sacramento police were called to investigate a report of gunshots heard in the area, according to law enforcement and archived audio dispatch calls.

Officers were called about 2:45 p.m. to the 3400 block of Fong Ranch Road after school officials called police, reporting hearing several gunshots ringing out in the area. The area includes Discovery High School as well as Natomas High School.

There weren’t any injuries reported, said Officer Cody Tapley, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department, but he said investigators found “evidence” of a shooting.

Two juveniles were detained in connection to the incident, Tapley said. A firearm was also recovered, he said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Deidra Powell, a spokeswoman for the Natomas Unified School District, did not immediately return a request for comment.
