April 16 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Wednesday's National Basketball Association games. - - - Grizzlies 106, Mavericks 95 (overtime) Mike Conley hit two free throws with 1.1 seconds left in overtime, and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks in a game that decided who would be the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Memphis (50-32) took the honours and will now open the post-season against the second-seed Oklahoma City Thunder, while eighth-seeded Dallas (49-33) opens against the San Antonio Spurs. The Grizzlies got 27 points and 14 rebounds from power forward Zach Randolph. Conley scored 22 points, and center Marc Gasol just missed a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Dirk Nowitzki led Dallas with 30 points. Monta Ellis had 18 and forced overtime on his tying three-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation. - - - Thunder 112, Pistons 111 Kevin Durant scored 21 of his game-high 42 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a victory over the Detroit Pistons. The win secured the second seed berth in the Western Conference for the Thunder (59-23), who will open the playoffs on Saturday against Memphis. Oklahoma City trailed by 10 points in the fourth but Durant kicked his game into high gear and showed why he is the leading candidate to win the league MVP Award. - - - Wizards 118, Celtics 102 The Washington Wizards, set to make their first NBA playoff appearance since 2008, captured the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference by finishing their regular season with a victory over the Boston Celtics. The Wizards (44-38) clinched the sixth spot with the win and then the fifth seed with the Brooklyn Nets' loss in Cleveland. The Wizards will face Chicago in the first round of the playoffs. Bradley Beal had a team-high 27 points to lead Washington. - - - Bobcats 91, Bulls 86 (overtime) Kemba Walker scored 22 points, including eight in overtime, as the Charlotte Bobcats outlasted the Chicago Bulls in the regular-season finale between two Eastern Conference playoff teams. The Bobcats scored the first four points of overtime and went on to outscore the Bulls 11-6 in the extra session. Charlotte (43-39) finishes as the seventh seed and will open the playoffs against Miami, while the fourth seeded Bulls (48-34) will host Washington in the first round. - - - Cavaliers 114, Nets 85 The Brooklyn Nets chose to rest their starters in a defeat that dropped them to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn (44-38) will face the Atlantic Division champion Toronto Raptors on Saturday in Game One of a best-of-seven, first-round playoff series. Tyler Zeller led Cleveland (33-49) with 22 points. - - - Pacers 101, Magic 86 Lightly regarded forward Rasual Butler scored a season-high 19 points, leading the Indiana Pacers to a victory over the hapless Orlando Magic. The Pacers (56-26) had already clinched the top seed in the Eastern Conference and rested three regular starters. Smith put up 30 points and the New York Knicks ended their disappointing season on a modest four-game winning streak after knocking off the playoff-bound Toronto Raptors. The Knicks (37-45) finished out of the playoffs for the first time since the 2009-10 season while Toronto (48-34) sealed the third spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs and will play Brooklyn in the first round. - - - Lakers 113, Spurs 100 Jordan Hill recorded 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Lakers ended their regular season with a win over the NBA-best San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs (62-20) rested many key players as they prepare for the playoffs will they will open as the top seed in the West against the Dallas Mavericks. - - - Pelicans 105, Rockets 100 Coming off a career scoring night, guard Tyreke Evans scored 25 points and dished out 10 assists to spark the New Orleans Pelicans to a victory over the Houston Rockets. Evans scored 41 points in a 101-89 victory over Oklahoma City on Monday, and his follow up helped New Orleans (34-48) close the season with consecutive victories. The Rockets (54-28) finish as the fourth seed in the West and will play Portland in the first round. - - - Hawks 111, Bucks 103 Six players scored in double digits for Atlanta as the Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a victory over the Bucks. Already locked into a first-round playoff meeting with top-seeded Indiana, the Hawks rested leading scorer Paul Millsap while Milwaukee finished with a league-worst record of 15-67. - - - 76ers 100, Heat 87 With the Miami Heat locked into the number two seed in the Eastern Conference they rested their key players in a meaningless loss to Philadelphia. Miami (54-28) finished the regular season with a three-game losing streak and will host the Charlotte Bobcats in a first-round series that begins on Sunday. - - - Jazz 136, Timberwolves 130 (double overtime) Trey Burke scored 32 points including big shots down the stretch as Utah beat Minnesota to end the season on a high note. Kevin Martin had a season-high 36 points for the Wolves (40-42), while Kevin Love had 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. - - - Trail Blazers 110, Clippers 104 Will Barton came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points and grab 10 rebounds, and the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Trail Blazers (54-28) enter the playoffs as the fifth seed in the Western Conference and will face Houston in the first round. Los Angeles (57-25) plays host to the Golden State Warriors in a playoff opener on Saturday. - - - Warriors 116, Nuggets 112 Guard Jordan Crawford scored a career-high 41 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets to enter the playoffs on a winning note. Harrison Barnes also had a career high with 30 for the Warriors (51-31). Golden State, the sixth seed, will open the first round in Los Angeles on Saturday against the Clippers. - - - Suns 104, Kings 99 Rookie guard Archie Goodwin scored a career-high 29 points, including five straight late in the fourth quarter to break the final tie of the night, and the Phoenix Suns completed one of the most successful non-playoff seasons in NBA history.
