Nebraska child porn investigation ends in Gander man's arrest

Online child luring sting leads to central Newfoundland man's arrest

A man from central Newfoundland is facing charges of possessing child pornography and luring a child, following an investigation which began in the United States.

It began when the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and RCMP's joint internet child exploitation unit received a tip last year from the Saline County Sheriff's Office in Nebraska.

The unit followed up on the complaint and searched a house in Gander on April 16.

A 29-year-old from the town has been charged.

He was released from custody on conditions and a future court date.

The investigation is continuing, police said.

The RNC-RCMP unit is reminding parents to be aware of their children's activities online, and to speak to them about the dangers of talking with strangers.
