Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson has responded to speculation that she's exiting the show.

Some fans have been worried about Bea Nilsson's future on Ramsay Street after Bonnie didn't appear in a Christmas photo featuring the cast.

But speaking on Instagram, the star played down the rumours and gave a reason for her absence.

"Everyone thinks I'm leaving the show," she said, responding to a fan question. "I've had heaps of people message me, 'Are you leaving?'.

"I'm not leaving the show. I think what has made people question it is because I wasn't there on the Christmas Day shoot [for] the photo. I wasn't there... I was doing music that week, so I wasn't able to come in to work. I just had the day off, and it was the day that we were all doing the shoot.

"So I'm not leaving. I'm here, I'm still contracted. Beatrice has still got plenty of stuff to get up to!"

Bea is in the middle of an awkward love triangle right now, as her partner Finn Kelly has secret feelings for her sister Elly Conway.

This week, Finn spontaneously proposes to Bea as he tries to focus his attention on her. A confused Bea rejects the proposal.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
