Netflix confirms future of Sweet Tooth after season 2
Netflix has confirmed that Sweet Tooth will get a third season, but the upcoming batch of eight episodes will be its last.
This isn't a cancellation, however, as showrunner Jim Mickle is wrapping things up as per his original plans.
"In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell and in a lot of ways it takes on its own life," he said in a statement (via Netflix's Tudum).

"At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus' story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus' journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be.
"The crew and cast bring so much depth and point of view to who the characters are and where they've come from and where they're going."
The third season, which has already begun production, will pick up from where things left off, with Gus and his crew heading to Alaska for a road trip story, similar to season 1.
"Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in season 1 or 2," Mickle added.

Gus actor Christian Convery teased that season 3 will be slightly darker in town compared to what has come before, stating: "Gus is growing alongside the series, starting to mature as the themes get darker. There’s a lot he has to deal with, and it’s peak Sweet Tooth intensity."
Alongside all the returning cast members, The Expanse's Cara Gee and The G Word with Adam Conover's Ayazhan Dalabayeva are joining the show as new series regular characters Siana and Nuka, respectively.
Sweet Tooth seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix now.
