Making the announcement this week, Netflix revealed that the series has been renewed for another season which will be its last.
Taking to X (Twitter) to break the news with fans, Netflix shared a short teaser for season 8 of the show along with the caption: "Élite has been renewed for an eighth and final season."
Season 7 of the show, which has won acclaim for its inclusive representation and tackling of sensitive issues, premiered on Friday (October 20).
"Omar is back. Iván has a broken heart. Isadora deals with her dangerous family. Is it possible for the students at Las Encinas to trust one another?" reads the logline for season 7.
In its seventh season Omar Ayusa is set to reprise his role as original character Omar Shanaa having skipped the whole of season six. Also returning for season 7 is Nadia Al Saidi who is reprising her role as Sonia.
While season seven sees the return of some familiar faces, a new group of students are arriving at Las Encinas. New cast members for season 7 include Maribel Verdú, Mirela Balic, Gleb Abrosimov, Fernando Líndez, Alejandro Albarracín and Iván Mendes.
Directing duties for season seven will be undertaken by Menna Fité, Roger Gualand, Lino Escalera and Ana Vázquez. The Spanish language series, which is then dubbed in English, has previously been described as a Spanish version of Gossip Girl.
In a review for previous seasons, Digital Spy said: "What's particularly impressive is that these kind of storylines are integrated seamlessly into the overall narrative without sidelining their inherent queerness or sensationalising them as something strange to be gawped at."
Élite seasons 1-7 are available to stream on Netflix now.
