Watch the Chill-Inducing Dance That Earned Nev Schulan the First Perfect Score of the 'DWTS' Season

From Woman's Day

It may be Villains Night on Dancing With the Stars, but Nev Schulman is 100 percent a hero. The Catfish host and his partner Jenna Johnson earned the first perfect score of season 29 with a powerful Paso Doble inspired by the movie Black Swan. In the pre-performance video, Schulman promised Johnson and viewers that "you're gonna see a side of me you ain't never seen before." And boy did he deliver.

Schulman has consistently earned high marks, so it's no surprise that he got great judges feedback again this week. "I loved this piece and you lived up to the expectation," Bruno Tonioli said. Carrie Ann Inaba agreed, adding, "there were high expectations, and you met them and exceeded them." Derek Hough was the last to give his critique and commended the couple on a "beautiful" routine "from beginning to end." He then ended his comments with a devilish "hmmm" that clued that something big was coming from his scorecard.

Fans were ecstatic for Schulman and Johnson. "Yass all 10s," one tweeted. "Omigod I’m speechless yet again," another said. Another fan declared the couple "so worthy of the PERFECT score they got!!!"

But despite the creepy theme of the dance, there was a sentimental component to it. Prior to the performance, Schulman shared that he's seen Swan Lake, the original source material behind the adaptation of Black Swan, "probably 20 times." He said he began going to the ballet with his father, Richard Schulman, and that they became "superfans" of the New York City Ballet. "Just like you would if you have a team you root for, we were in the audience cheering, and we couldn't get enough," he said. Though Schulman wished his father could've been sitting front-row to watch his performance, his dad assured him in a video, "You've already won so many hearts of everybody who was rooting for you." And clearly, Schulman's father was cheering him on hard tonight as his son earned a perfect score.

Congratulations to Schulman and Johnson on the season's first perfect score!
