The two major forest fires in central Newfoundland haven't shrunk and remain out of control, officials said Saturday, but air quality risk to nearby communities remains low. Back in the U.S., days after the FBI search for top secret files at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's potential legal problems seem to keep piling up. The former president now claims authorities seized executive-privileged material and is demanding them back. While a spokesperson has said that Trump had a standing order that documents taken to his Florida home were deemed "declassified." As Jennifer Johnson reports, those claims aren't holding up.

After a late start to the season, some sunflower growers on P.E.I. are optimistic about what lies ahead for the beloved flower. Crystal Burke-Cheverie, who helps run Fortune Bridge Farms in Souris, P.E.I., says dry weather over the last month was making it difficult for sunflowers to bloom. However, recent rain means flowers are now in bloom and the demand is high, Burke-Cheverie said. "They seem to be really popular all over the Island. Everyone you talk to likes sunflowers," she said. The Nature Trust of New Brunswick is urging the public to stop creating rock piles on a coastal nature reserve. The non-profit, which conserves privately owned land throughout the province, is concerned the rock piles are a public safety issue and will disrupt local wildlife on its Cape Enrage Nature Preserve beach, about 19 kilometres east of Fundy National Park. "We really just want to spread awareness with the public about this issue and how important it is to leave the rocks where they are,"
Whether or not Tehran and Washington accept a European Union "final" offer to revive the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, neither is likely to declare the pact dead because keeping it alive serves both sides' interests, diplomats, analysts and officials said. For U.S. President Joe Biden's administration, there are no obvious or easy ways to rein in Iran's nuclear program other than the agreement, under which Iran had restrained its atomic program in return for relief from U.S., U.N. and EU economic sanctions.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney condemned a controversial prize-winning essay that's been criticized for being sexist and racist during his provincewide radio call-in program, but also appeared to downplay the controversy it generated. The topic was the first that host Wayne Nelson raised during Saturday's show on CHQR and CHED, and Kenney responded there was "clearly a breakdown" in how the judges assessed the essays, adding they "screwed up." Nelson had noted in the opening of the program that wh

When the bell rang at the Old Holy Trinity Church in Middleton, N.S., on Sunday, it was no ordinary toll. It marked the 231st anniversary of the first congregation held at the historic church on Aug. 14, 1791. The church is one of the oldest, and largely unaltered, churches of its kind in Canada, according to Brian McConnell, chair of the Old Holy Trinity Heritage Trust. The church was active until 1893, when a new church was built in the community. Despite no longer being the main church of the
WARNING: This article contains details of suicide and abuse. A South Asian radio host in Richmond, B.C., has been suspended after he commented that the husband of a woman who died by suicide in New York, following what she described as years of domestic abuse, shouldn't automatically be blamed because he hasn't been criminally charged in the tragedy. Now, with a terminal cancer diagnosis and his 80th birthday in October, Holik says he wants to pass the boat on to someone else's skilled hands. "Many people are surprised," Holik

WOLVERHAMPTON, England (AP) — Wolverhampton goalkeeper Jose Sa saved a late penalty by Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic as the teams played out a 0-0 draw in the Premier League at Molineux on Saturday. Mitrovic, who scored twice last weekend in Fulham’s opening-round 2-2 draw against Liverpool, was handed the chance to snatch all three points for the Londoners in the 81st minute.
