NEW YORK (AP) — A new production of “The Wiz” is heading out on a national tour next year before following the yellow brick road to Broadway, with its director hoping the show becomes a “touchstone for a new generation.” Director Schele Williams tells The Associated Press that it's a very personal musical for her, creating possibilities in her mind as a girl when she saw it. “It was the first time I was able to ever imagine myself on Broadway. It was because of ‘The Wiz.’” she said. “I’m really
Premier Danielle Smith says the government's proposed sovereignty act would not give the provincial cabinet unchecked powers to rewrite laws, while critics say the premier's signature bill would do just that. "It gives unprecedented ability to a brand new premier to overwhelm and sidestep the legislative assembly of this province and it is an attack on the democratic rights of Albertans, and through that, an attack on the stability of our economy," NDP Leader Rachel Notley said on her way into t

Welcome to our Collector Card Game Break. A little late to the game with opening The Brothers War in celebration of MTG 30th Anniversary. Oh Hasbro, what are you doing to our game. I have said this on a few occasions but I am thinking the game will cease to exist from a manufacturer standpoint, but may continue to exist on the secondary market similar to how starcraft took on a life of its own, with the die hard fans continue to play. I think with all the cards that's out there, there's definitely an ability to do this. I mean 30 years worth of cards right? Anyways, we're opening 2 set and 2 collectors boosters just to give our audience a sense of what a casual collector/player can expect. The best thing about the collector boosters.....the Transformers!! Some of my facts are definitely incorrect (ie. quicksilver is not from Tempest but rather Urza's Legacy). Collector Packs cost about $35 CAD, and Set boosters were about $5 Well I hope you like the content. Let me know what you think about the set, about the cross over and about the debacle that is Hasbro Have a great week!
WASHINGTON (AP) — Despite high interest rates and chronic inflation, the U.S. economy grew at a 2.9% annual rate from July through September, the government said Wednesday in an upgrade from its initial estimate. Last quarter's rise in the U.S. gross domestic product — the economy’s total output of goods and services — followed two straight quarters of contraction. That decline in output had raised fears that the economy might have slipped into a recession in the first half of the year despite a
DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Adding more time at the end of World Cup games to compensate for stoppages has raised the average active playing time to 59 minutes, FIFA’s head of refereeing said Wednesday. Pierluigi Collina said FIFA was “quite happy (with) the result” of games routinely extending from the 90 minutes of regulation to more than 100 in total. The ball is now actively in play for 55 to 67 minutes, the Italian official said. Active playing time was as little as 52 minutes for some games at the

The lawyer for a businessman fighting N.B. Erica Brown is demanding that the corporation's former director of finance Stacey McKinney turn over all documents related to any settlement between her and N.B. Liquor. She says in a Nov. 11 letter filed in court that she fears McKinney and her lawyer "may have made a deal" tha
An experimental Alzheimer’s drug modestly slowed the brain disease’s inevitable worsening — but the anxiously awaited new data leaves unclear how much difference that might make in people’s lives. Japanese drugmaker Eisai and its U.S. partner Biogen had announced earlier this fall that the drug lecanemab appeared to work, a badly needed bright spot after repeated disappointments in the quest for better treatments of the incurable disease. Late Tuesday, the companies provided full results of the
The conversation was as vile as you might expect. Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist who has been ordered to pay $1.44 billion US in compensation for promoting false conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook school massacre, invited Kanye West, a rapper who peddles antisemitism, onto his online chat show today. Jones offered West some friendly cover, declaring: "You're not a Nazi, you don't deserve to be called that and demonized." West paused and stumbled for a moment, before declaring, "I see
DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Brazil and Portugal already advanced into the knockout round so the focus on the final day of World Cup group play should be on the six other teams trying to avoid elimination. Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon, South Korea, Ghana and Uruguay all have a chance on Friday to reach the last 16. Alas, the spotlight will still be on Brazil and Portugal. Both teams need to either win or draw in their games to guarantee top spot in their respective groups and avoid a head-to-head match i
BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Spain’s interior minister on Wednesday flatly rejected new media allegations of possible deaths on Spanish soil during a June storming by migrants of the border fence separating its north African enclave of Melilla from Morocco when at least 23 people died. “We did not have to lament any loss of human life in our national territory. The tragic events occurred outside our country,” minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska told Spain’s Parliament in Madrid. “The insinuation that I
