Newsroom Ready: Puffins show signs of adapting to climate change
Puffins are feeling the heat. These defining birds of Machias Seal Island off the coasts of New Brunswick and Maine are feeling the effects of warming waters with scientists seeing changes in size of puffins, their bills and also fluctuations in reproduction and survival of chicks. Heather Major, a marine biology professor at the University of New Brunswick, and her team are studying puffins and other seabirds on the island with a focus on the impacts of climate change.
