I guess the Calgary Flames took offence to Justin Faulk’s words last week.
In the middle of a road trip, the St. Louis Blues defenceman decided to share his thoughts before heading up to Vancouver and Calgary to finish off the streak of away games.
“I’m not looking forward to going to Canada one bit," Faulk said. "But we’ll play some hockey games and get it over with and then come back."
“I mean it just seems to be that things are going a little bit differently up there than they are here. I like where we’re at in this country, so we’ll go with that.”
Canada is taking extra precautions at the border, with increased COVID-19 testing measures required to enter the country, and Faulk evidently isn’t a huge fan of that.
After his team was able to claim a 3-1 victory over the Canucks on Sunday, Faulk and the rest of the Blues were treated to an absolute beatdown by the Flames in Calgary the following night. Not only did the home team manage to outshoot St. Louis by a tally of 48-21, but it unleashed a pile of goals all scored in the first 40 minutes, cruising to a deserving 7-1 win over the Blues.
And to add some salt to the wound, the Flames' official Twitter account decided to poke some fun at Faulk’s comments.
We see why the Blues wanted to get out of Canada quickly.

Not only did the Flames take it to the Blues, but St. Louis native and Calgary winger Matthew Tkachuk had one heck of a night, dropping a career-high five assists on his hometown team.
The road trip wasn’t all bad for Faulk, though. During the game against the Canucks, the 29-year-old blueliner managed to score a goal worthy of multiple highlight reels.

A mixed bag of a road trip finishes with the Blues still holding the second spot in the Central Division with a 25-12-5 record, and Faulk keeping steady with a season total of six goals and 18 points in 36 games.
