In what looks like a mildly unsettling, potential vision of the future, Nicole Kidman has aged about 20 years for her new role.

Snapped on the set of season two of crime thriller ‘Top Of The Lake’, she wears a full-on tousled grey wig, and is dotted with age spots.

At 49, she could probably pass for 20 years past that, as she filmed scenes for the series in Sydney.

Kidman was reportedly all lined up for the critically acclaimed first series, written and helmed by revered Kiwi director Jane Campion, and set in New Zealand.

For reasons unknown, she didn’t end up taking the role, but Campion confirmed her part in series two in an interview last September.

The first series followed 'Mad Men’ star Elisabeth Moss as a detective returning to her homeland of New Zealand to investigate the disappearance of a pregnant 12-year-old girl.

Moss is reprising her role in the second series, with 'Game of Thrones’ star Gwendoline Christie also on board.

Kidman follows fellow Hollywood A-lister Julianne Moore in piling on the years for her latest role.

Moore was pictured on the set of Wonderstruck in New York in May this year, looking decades older than her 55 years.
