Late-Night Hosts Form ‘Strike Force Five,’ to Pay Out-of-Work Staffs
Late-night TV’s top hosts are staging an epic crossover of sorts.
Spotify announced Tuesday that Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver will host the new podcast Strike Force Five. Launching Wednesday, Aug. 30, each episode will see the comedians bring “their unique insights, opinions and humor to the show as they navigate the Hollywood strikes and beyond.”

The podcast will consist of at least 12 episodes, with each host serving as a rotating moderator.
All proceeds will go to out-of-work staff from the hosts’ respective shows, including ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, HBO’s Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, and NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers — all of which went dark at the start of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike on May 2.
Negotiations between the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) hit another standstill last week when a meeting between the two sides reportedly led to no actual talks, but a “lecture,” per the WGA.
Strike Force Five will launch on day 120 of the strike.
