Nikki Garcia Files for Divorce from Artem Chigvintsev Following His Arrest for Domestic Violence
The filing comes shortly after Chigvintsev was arrested in Napa Valley, Calif. on a charge of corporal injury to a spouse
Nikki Garcia has filed for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev after two years of marriage.
Garcia, 40, filed the paperwork in Napa Valley, California, on Wednesday, Sept. 11, according to online records obtained by PEOPLE.
The filing comes nearly two weeks after Chigvintsev, 42, was arrested on a charge of corporal injury to a spouse and hours after a source told PEOPLE that Garcia had obtained a divorce lawyer.
PEOPLE has reached out to Garcia's attorney, as well as Chigvintsev's rep for comment.
TMZ was first to report the news.
On Aug. 29, Chigvintsev was arrested in Napa Valley, Calif. on a charge of corporal injury to a spouse. He was booked in the Napa County Jail and given a $25,000 bail before being released in less than an hour, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
While Garcia wasn't named in the documents, she was named in the 911 call about the incident reported by TMZ. According to the dispatcher heard on the outlet's audio, Garcia allegedly threw shoes at Chigvintsev during the argument.
At the time, a rep for Garcia told PEOPLE, "This is a private matter and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time."

Just two days before the incident, the couple celebrated their second wedding anniversary with post shared to their respective Instagram accounts.
“Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life with out you,” Chigvintsev, 42, wrote on Instagram alongside photos from their wedding day. “You are my everything ❤️”
The retired WWE star, 40, also looked back at the couple’s love story on their anniversary as she shared the lyrics to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
