Nintendo Unveils Female Version Of One Of Its Most Famous Characters

Games giant Nintendo has unveiled a female version of Link - one of its most popular characters.

Named Linkle, the new character will make her debut in the Hyrule Warriors Legends game, which will launch on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016.

The new game will mark the first time that a female version of Link has appeared in a title from the hugely successful Legend of Zelda gaming saga.

The long-rumoured character sports two crossbows and is described as being “from a small village filled with Cuccos”.

Linkle was first introduced back in 2014 in an art book for the Wii U version of Hyrule Warrirors, but the character never made the final cut of the game.

The new character’s game debut was announced at this week’s Nintendo Direct broadcast - the first since the death of Nintendo CEO and gaming legend Satoru Iwata, who passed away in July.

There’s no word yet on whether Linkle will be making an appearance in any other upcoming ‘Zelda’ titles.
