The Nisqually Indian Tribe has announced the distribution of more than $1.9 million in operational funding to over 150 local agencies and organizations through its 2024 Charitable and Local Government Program. This significant contribution highlights the tribe’s unwavering commitment to fostering the well-being of its surrounding community.

Each year, the Nisqually Tribe allocates a portion of its gaming revenues generated from the Nisqually Red Wind Casino to nonprofit organizations, scholarship programs and community groups. These funds are awarded through a competitive application process, ensuring they reach organizations that deliver critical services and resources.

The program focuses on supporting 501(c)(3) organization in areas such as public safety, children’s services, community health, cultural preservation, veterans’ support and environmental conservation. By prioritizing these sectors, the Nisqually Tribe strengthens the foundation of local communities and ensures future generations benefit from enhanced support systems.

Over the past six years, the tribe has awarded over $10 million to local charities and organizations by way of this program, including more than $1.9 million this year alone—a record-breaking total.

“This year’s total contributions reached an all-time high,” said Ken Choke, Chairman of the Nisqually Indian Tribe. “The grant recipients exemplify the values of service and dedication, and we are proud to support their efforts.”

One of this year’s grant recipients is All Kids Win, a nonprofit that provides weekend food for students in Thurston County who might otherwise go hungry. The organization serves 1,122 students across 49 schools, including middle and high schools in North Thurston, Tumwater and Olympia, as well as K-8 students at Wa He Lut Indian School and K-12 students in Tenino, Rainier, Yelm and Rochester.

“We are on track to deliver just under 34,000 weekend food bags by the end of the 2025 school year,” said Matthew Klifman, Board Chair Elect for All Kids Win. “Every dollar goes to food and operating costs, and generous grants like this ensure our volunteers can continue making a tangible difference in students’ lives.”

The Nisqually Tribe’s Charitable and Local Government Program is a testament to the power of collaboration and shared resources in creating a brighter future for communities. Through these strategic investments, the tribe continues to make a profound impact, enhancing the lives of families and neighbors across the region.
