No one injured in Brampton fire but vacant house severely damaged
No one was injured in a fire that severely damaged a vacant house in Brampton late Friday night.
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said firefighters were called to the property on Heritage Road, south of Bovaird Drive West, at about 11:15 p.m. The fire was extinguished shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday.
Platoon Chief Phil Starr, of Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said the house was vacant because it was undergoing renovations.
Some of the structure is left after the fire, he said. The estimated damage is not known, but the fire department is investigating what caused the flames.
About 30 firefighters and nine trucks were involved in bringing the blaze under control, Starr told CBC News.
Additional help was requested from Caledon Fire and Emergency Services, which provided tanker trucks.
Brampton Fire and Emergency Services will meet with the Ontario's Office of the Fire Marshal about the fire today.
No damage was sustained to surrounding homes, Starr said.
