GO Train service has resumed on the Barrie line after a train hit a vehicle north of the York University GO station on Wednesday morning.

The collision stopped service temporarily, with GO trains holding at stations, but the vehicle has been removed and the trains are running again. No one was injured.

Anne Marie Aikins, spokesperson for Metrolinx, said this is the second incident involving a vehicle on the tracks on Wednesday, but the first in which there was a collision.

"Thank goodness, there are no injuries to report," Aikins said. "There was no one in the vehicle. And no one on the train has been injured."

Aikins said the train had to be inspected, the vehicle had to be moved out of way and an investigation had to be conducted before service resumed.

The York University GO station is south of Steeles Avenue West and east of Canarctic Drive.

Toronto police said they received a call about the reported collision at 7:51 a.m.
