Snow cancels school buses, slows traffic

The first widespread school bus cancellations in months are affecting most schools in eastern Ontario.

School buses in Ottawa and around Ottawa have been cancelled.

English Catholic school students and students in the Renfrew area had a planned day off today.

All other schools are open.

There are no cancellations in western Quebec.

Delays on roads, at airport

OC Transpo warns its routes may be delayed because of the road conditions.

There are scattered flight delays and cancellations at the Ottawa International Airport.

Police are reminding everyone to take extra time on the road.

The Diefenbunker Museum in rural west Ottawa said it's closed today because of the road conditions.

The fresh powder is cause for celebration for some people.

The rest of the day

Snow fell through the night and is expected to fall for most of the day in Ottawa.

As of 10 a.m., 11 centimetres of snow had fallen in Ottawa and eight centimetres in Gatineau.

In the Kingston area, rain is expected to enter the mix this afternoon.
