A Norfolk County auxiliary police officer is facing charges after allegedly stealing from a change room at the Simcoe Recreation Centre.

On May 26, Norfolk County OPP charged an auxiliary constable with eight counts of theft under $5,000.

The accused is a 46-year-old man who has been with the volunteer OPP auxiliary force in Norfolk for five years.

He has been suspended from duty.

Police allege the thefts from the men’s change room at the rec centre — located on the Simcoe fairgrounds on South Drive — took place in early 2016 and 2019.

“Investigators believe that there may be additional victims,” said acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk.

Anyone with information can call the Norfolk OPP detachment at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

The accused was to appear in court on Monday.
