Nunavut RCMP charge man with attempted murder, say he shot at police officers
The Nunavut RCMP say they have charged a man from Kimmirut with attempted murder for shooting at police.
Nathan Padluq, 22, faces charges including two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault. He was expected to have a bail hearing Wednesday.
In news releases Tuesday and Wednesday, RCMP said they received a complaint Monday night that someone was firing a gun from their home, which prompted a shelter-in-place alert.
When officers arrived at the home, the person shot their vehicle, according to the news release, and then left the scene on an ATV.
He was arrested shortly after, when community members caught and restrained him.
No one was injured, police said.
