‘Nvidia Shield Android TV’ Box Hits UK With 4K Netflix And Game Streaming Service

The Nvidia Shield Android TV lands in the UK today and is set to go head-to-head with the the revamped Apple TV, thanks to its 4K streaming capabilities.

As well as being the first TV box to offer ultra high-definition 4K, the Google-powered console also introduces a Netflix-like streaming service for video games.

Nvidia’s GeForce Now offers unlimited streaming of more than 50 games, which means no more waiting for time-consuming downloads.

Keen gamers can take advantage of the free three-month trial on Shield devices, with the monthly subscription of £7.49 kicking in at the end if they choose to stay.

First unveiled in the US earlier this year, the console is claimed to be 34 times faster than other media streamers.

Along with the new gaming service, the device features a selection of apps including Netflix (in 4K), YouTube and BBC iPlayer.

The Nvidia Shield Android TV costs £149.99 for the 16GB model, while the Nvidia Shield Pro 500GB version comes with a price tag of £219.99. A wireless gamepad controller will cost a further £49.99.
