Watch: O-T Fagbenle showcases Obama performance
O-T Fagbenle has told how friends begged him to do their answer machine messages in the Barack Obama voice he perfected for The First Lady.
The British actor, 41, plays the former US President in the American anthology drama series, which debuted last month.
He has now given fans on Instagram a little peek, sharing a video of him leaving his dad a message while in character.
In the clip, Fagbenle talks for a few seconds before smiling and switching back to his own voice as he wraps up.
He wrote in the caption: “When I was doing Barack I had like 5 friends ask me to do their answer machine messages for them. Dad wanted a sneak peek too.”
Fans filled the comments section with crying with laughter emojis and many said they couldn’t believe how “spot on” the star’s impression was.
“How did you learn to speak like B Obama so well?” one asked, adding: “I loooove the show.”
“You did an awesome job,” said another impressed viewer.
“The jumping back into your actual voice, will never understand how actors manage to do such seamless accents,” said another.
“Wow! You do sound like him and look like him,” gushed one admirer.
Someone else said the actor was “so on point”.
“Dang it! You gonna make me get Apple TV now... I already have too many streaming platforms!” said another.
One person quipped: “That would be a GREAT Cameo fundraiser.”
Another joked: “You deserve an Emmy nomination for this video alone."
The First Lady follows the lives of three first ladies - Michelle Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford.
