Officers attend two gatherings

Chatham-Kent Police Service officers were on scene at two separate gatherings in East Kent recently following calls made to the municipality’s COVID-19 hotline.

The incidents — one in Highgate and one in Ridgetown — were reported to Chatham-Kent Public Health Oct. 24.

According to a police report from Special Constable Brenda Koldyk, officers attended after the complaints were made.

However, no charges were laid as number of people did not exceed the current pandemic-related limits but warnings were issued.

Koldyk says police want residents to know COVID-19 precautions are “on their radar.

“The warnings serve as a reminder,” the officer says. “We’re more into education about the issue so we can keep people safe,” Koldyk says.

“We’re in this together and we want neighbours to look out for each other.”
