Oklahoma Man’s Body Found in Woods Over a Week After His Truck Was Discovered at Golf Course

An Oklahoma man's body was found in a "heavily wooded area" over a week after authorities located his truck at a golf course.

Tulsa Police Department Captain Richard G. Meulenberg IV tells PEOPLE that Christopher Coulston went missing on Sept. 3, and was last seen on a surveillance camera the following day. On Sept. 4, authorities also found his truck parked on the north side of Mohawk Golf Course."

In an un update on Sept 13, the department announced that they had recovered Coulston's body following a thorough search.

"He was located more than a mile and a half northeast from where we previously found his truck, and he was about 50 yards from the bank of Bird Creek in a heavily wooded area," the department added.

His cause of death is unclear. Tulsa Police noted the medical examiner's office will determine his cause of death.

When reached for comment on Tuesday, Sept. 17, police said they did not have any additional information to share.

The Mohawk Golf Course did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

When the search for Coulston was still underway, his daughter Brandy posted on Facebook on Sept. 6 that while she had "no idea" why her dad drove to the golf course, "we believe he drove himself as there is a steering wheel lock on his steering wheel."

"He is very particular about his truck and he would not ever leave it somewhere like this especially for this long," Brandy added.

Once Coulston's body was found, his daughter Tina thanked those who helped look for him in a separate Facebook post.

"The search party for tomorrow has been called off," Tina wrote on Sept. 13. "Our precious Daddy was found today."

She added, "Every single one of you have done more than we ever expected and could imagine. There’s truly no amount of love and gratitude we could express to or repay you."
