Oklahoma man driving semi dies after being hit by train in Kiowa

A 40-year-old Oklahoma man driving a semi was killed Thursday in Kiowa after trying to go around a railroad crossing and being hit by a train, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper said.

Joshua David Wayne Rainey of Enid, Oklahoma, died at the scene.

He was driving a 2003 Peterbuilt semi westbound on K-2 when the accident happened around 11:50 a.m. The train tracks are on the west side of the town of less than 1,000 people.
