Two houses were destroyed and two others were damaged by a fire on Sunday afternoon in Okotoks, Alta.

RCMP asked the public to avoid the Okotoks neighbourhood of Sheep River Place while emergency crews responded to a fire affecting two homes in the town, which is located about 45 kilometres south of Calgary, around 4:30 p.m.

The Okotoks Fire Department, EMS and RCMP attended the scene.

RCMP said in an update around 7 p.m. that the fire had been extinguished, but two houses burned down.

No one was injured because the homes were empty.

Two other homes were damaged in the blaze.

The fire is not believed to be suspicious, RCMP said, but it will continue to investigate with the fire department.
