It turns out, there’s no need to worry about losing your mojo as you get older.

According to research conducted by mature dating app Lumen, people over the age of 50 are having the best sex of their lives.

An impressive 62% revealed that they’ve become more daring under the sheets with age - due to having fewer inhibitions when it comes to body confidence.

While a further 10% discovered that their libido has gradually increased over the years meaning they’re more up for getting down.

Retirement and increased ‘down time’ has also helped some change the meaning of a ‘night in’.

When it comes to dating, the study also revealed that the over-50 demographic is highly likely to have sex on the first date with more than a third also admitting they’re all for the ‘three date rule’.

On average, sex between those over 50 lasts for 25 minutes and the session usually involves three different positions - with missionary holding the top spot as the most favoured pose.

Doggy style and oral followed closely behind with anal making appearance in the top ten.

“Of course the over 50s are having more adventurous sex, they’re more comfortable in their own skin and know what they want,” Antoine Argouges, Co-Founder and CEO of Lumen, said. “It’s something that should be celebrated, not recoiled from. Our app is all about anti-ageism, body confidence and helping to create meaningful and genuine connections.”

Yet despite popular belief, the older generation aren’t setting a good example when it comes to keeping safe.

The study discovered that 80% of over-50s have never been tested for an STI while only 4% of men and women use protection.

It comes as no surprise to learn that this has resulted in an increased diagnosis of STIs with gonorrhoea, syphilis and chlamydia rising by more than a third in the last decade.
