Olivia Rodrigo Had to Go to the Hospital After Her Melbourne Fall

Remember earlier this month when Olivia Rodrigo fell through a stage hole mid-concert in Melbourne, Australia, and made it into a viral TikTok? Well, the artist might have laughed it off at the moment, but it turns out the mishap was a lot scarier than she originally made it seem.

Rodrigo recently stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she wore a stunning red mini dress by Belgian designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin to promote her Netflix GUTS World Tour Concert Film.

Rodrigo talked about her experience on the road in conversation with the host, including her Melbourne fall. "Watching the video back, it’s pretty terrifying,” Rodrigo told Fallon. “I mean, show must go on; that’s showbiz, baby.”

Rodrigo went on to explain that she was actually feeling a little distracted during the show since she had just come back from her momentous Philippines tour stop, which was not only the star's largest crowd to date but also a special concert for her since she's part Filipino. (ICYMI: Rodrigo donated all net profits from the show ticket sales.)

“After the Philippines,” Rodrigo recounted, “I was thinking about my family and my heritage and my relatives, and I fell, and I was, like, all shaken up.” She also admitted that she actually had to go to the hospital once the concert had wrapped.

“I went to the hospital after. Nothing happened, but they just wanted to make sure I didn’t have a concussion,” she shared. But, lo and behold, her connection to the Philippines followed her even to the ER.

“Randomly, the nurse was a Filipino man with the same name as my grandpa, who just passed away a few months ago,” Rodrigo recounted, getting emotional. “I was like, ‘Wow, that was him looking out for me, making sure I didn’t get hurt.' So I'm really happy it happened. I think it's a beautiful story.”

Speaking to Teen Vogue earlier this week, Olivia Rodrigo further opened up about how special her Philippines show was to her. “I have always wanted to go there. That's the one show I was looking forward to the most in all 95 dates that we put up, that was the one that I was looking forward to just because I've never been and it's a place that has so much significance to me and my family, and so I really wanted to make it special,” she said.

“It was just a really wonderful, special experience and I knew I wanted to give back to that community who has just given so much to me, and who has embraced me with open arms throughout my whole career," she added.

Rodrigo also shared that her favorite keepsake from the tour was also from her Philippines show. “This sweet girl that I met crocheted me this beautiful bag and this bonnet that I find really chic, and so I've been wearing it,” she said. “And if anyone asks me, I'm going to say, 'Yeah, a beautiful girl in the Philippines gave it to me. You can't buy it, it's one of a kind.'”
